25 Super Foodie Things....

It's all the rage on Facebook right now, but I thought it was a very fitting way to let you know a little more about me.....

So here you go: 25 Things about Teeny Little Super Foodie (in no particular order)

1. I have lived in Chicago for almost eight years (a fact which astounds me) but I was born and raised in the land of Bluegrass and Bourbon...Louisville, Ky. However, I do not have an accent.

2. If I had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life it would be pizza. The type that folds over and the cheese drips off (some call this New York Style, I call it amazing....) with cheese, basil and garlic. I truly think Pizza is the worlds most perfect food.

3. My least favorite food, is not actually a food but rather a condiment, I hate mustard. Which could quite possibly be a foodie sin, but I promise you I have tried my darnedest to acquire a taste, and vow to continue this quest until I can cry out "Victory!"

4. I have been married for one month and on day, to a gent who also appreciates food. I am still receiving raves from guests about how much they loved the food at our wedding. This pleases me beyond measure.

5. Another food I have never enjoyed is Asparagus, however Barbara Kingsolver has convinced me that I just have never tried good, in season, Asparagus. Therefore when Asparagus season rolls around, I'll be on the that train.

6. One of my favorite snack foods is popcorn (made on the stove) with butter, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and dill. Very yummy.

7. So far the best dish I have consumed this year has been, hands down, the Seared Ostrich Fillet with creamed sweet potato's and pomegranate gastrique from Jiko in Orlando. Incredible.

8. Speaking of pomegranate, my new favorite breakfast is a bowl of Greek yogurt with pomegranate seeds. The delightful combo of the sweet seeds and the creamy yogurt is a burst of loveliness in your mouth.

9. I don't drink coffee or any caffeine for that matter. I have no major motivating factor behind this decision, I just don't do it.

10. I have been part of the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant wine club for two years now. It's one of the best gifts I have ever received.

11. Growing up I was a relatively picky eater, and caused my family great duress when trying to decide where to eat. I credit moving to Chicago and an overall increase in maturity level to my new found desire to eat all things (except mustard...blech).

12. I believe I would be considered to be "teeny" and/or "little" by 98% percent of the population. The 2% who might find me not so little may include infants, and some middle schoolers. I have been known to frequent the kids department while shopping for clothes. No shame!

13. I am a huge fan of the Bravo reality show Top Chef, and I have met two of the previous contestants. Guess which ones?

14. I have been acting since the age of twelve, and continue to do so to this very day. It is what brought me to Chicago and has provided me with some of the coolest and craziest experiences of my life thus far.

15. I have always enjoyed writing but I am a terrible speller. A fact which I am sure will be exploited on this blog in no time.

16. I get full very quickly and that makes me sad sometimes.

17. I have a tendency to give up on things if I am not good at them right away. Past "things" include the piano, ballet and guitar. Something tells me I should get over this immediateley.

18. Another random thing I do is hand and foot modeling. No...seriously. My hands were recently the stars of two Glade commercials. Crazy!

19. I desperately want to travel to France this year, but I think that may be a lofty goal.

20. I have been singing my entire life, and I love music, but I never listen to it. Or buy it. It strikes most people as strange, but it's just not how I roll....

21. I think I may be on the biggest Sex and the City fans out there

22. Someday later in life I would like to own a vineyard.

23. I have really lovely friends, and a lot of them enjoy good food and scintillating conversations too. I guess that explains why we are friends....

24. I am currently reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver (see no. 5) and it's changing the way I think about food.

25. I love checking the mail.

And there you have it. 25 random factoids about yours truly. I must admit that was more difficult that I originally anticipated!

Just a Teeny Little Super Foodie....

Oh yeah....

We all have to start somewhere and I suppose this is where it all begins. For years now I have pondered the best way to combine my love of eating yummy things, performing, questioning, writing and cooking into one wham-bam enterprise. This is my first attempt. Through this blog I hope to chronicle my day to day goings on involving all things culinary, along with insights and inspirations from foodie friends and professionals. I plan to write not only about what I am cooking/drinking, but also: review restaurants I visit, comment on books I read/shows I watch, and (once I learn how) upload demo video's and interviews. It is my hope that by challenging my self to write regularly will prevent me from running into a dark corner and hiding from the big vast world of food, which at times overwhelms me so and I fear I will never be able to learn enough.

Like I said, we all have to start somewhere.

I am eager to begin this journey, and I am excited for you to join me on this delectable adventure. I hope it inspires you to take a bite of something new, savor an old standby in a different way, or if nothing else make you chuckle at my mishaps along the way.
